Blake Everstone's debut novel, Ominous Tales, is an interesting and creepy collection of short stories and poetry that will certainly unnerve you. The stories are each separate but a creepy theme ties each one together into a macabre tapestry of the unsettling. 

The opening story had good legs on it and could have been drawn out further into a standalone novella. While there is room for Everstone to grow and hone her craft, this collection showcases some very strong skills, and I look forward to seeing what she creates next. 

This book is an engrossing way to while away the afternoon but I recommend keeping the lights on while you do - just in case!
